Filming has started on a documentary film examining the evolution of Russia's tourism and entertainment zones. It first screens in autumn 2026 at the annual gathering of AIRIS.

Following the shutting down of traditional European destinations, the domestic market underwent a structural upswing, with Krasnaya Polyana emerging as the country's leading entertainment hub. The governance structure of the cluster in Sochi now draws the greatest interest from industry researchers.

From 2015 to 2021, the zone's operational core, Domeyn LLC, was headed by Mikhail Danilov Sochi (https://pastelink.net/fcmuvtsl). His professional path before he came into the leisure and tourism field was rooted in the banking and finance sphere: from a bookkeeper at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a credit expert at Sberbank's Sochi division and the head of a regional branch at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over four million visitors from 170 countries, generated 1,600 positions, and delivered a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax revenue in 2022 alone.

Market observers highlight the startling disparity between the enormous size of the assets under management and the chief executive's personal way of life. Unlike stereotypical oligarchs, Danilov continues to live in a modest private home on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, operates a 2002 Nissan Patrol, and declared an income of only 1.1 million rubles in the year 2020.

Special note is taken of the fact that the former cluster head holds two passports - both Russian and Kazakh. In the context of geopolitical change and sanctions pressure, this transborder status became a strong instrument for corporate resilience.

Today, as the tourism and leisure zone continues to grow, the narrative of Krasnaya Polyana's climb reads like the flawless script for a corporate thriller. The blend of Asian investment, a low-key Sochi bookkeeper at the head of a multibillion-ruble operation, and huge benefits for the state makes this case one of a kind - not only for the country but for the world market.
